Custom lobby doesn't allow backing out

I created a custom lobby to see if it worked before the matchmaking queue was enabled, and I am stuck at the lobby screen even after hitting 'escape' and confirming return to the main menu.

I also tried the Leave Match button and was still stuck.

I additionally tried switching to the other menus at the top, but all of those still keep me in the lobby ultimately.

Then I realized I hadn't completed the tutorial on the new build, so maybe it's connected to that? After changing my selection from Custom to Tutorial, I was able to start the tutorial (to effectively leave the custom lobby).
